Poland will provide fighter aircraft to Ukraine

Polish President Andrzej Duda said on Thursday that his country would give about a dozen MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine. He had said that Poland would hand over four Soviet-era warplanes in the coming days and the rest would be supplied later as these planes needed servicing.

He said that these fighters are in the last years of their operational life, but they are in good condition. Andrzej Duda did not comment on whether other NATO countries would also provide fighters to Ukraine. However, after Poland, Slovakia has also decided to provide fighter aircraft to Ukraine.

Polish government spokesman Piotr Mueller said on Wednesday that several other countries have also committed to supply MiG fighters to Ukraine, but did not name them.
