Indian-origin Home Minister Priti Patel on Monday resigned from her post after Liz Truss’s name was announced for the post of UK Prime Minister. Patel was appointed by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who resigned on Tuesday. Indian-origin Attorney General Swela Fernandez Braverman is likely to be made Home Minister in the new government. Suella Braverman’s family is from Goa. If Suella Braverman becomes the Home Minister, she will be the third minority to reach it. Before him, Pakistani-origin Sajid Javid and Indian-origin Priti Patel have become Home Ministers.
