The External Affairs Minister is on a 10-day visit to the US. Earlier he met Belarusian counterpart Vladimir Meki, Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, Saudi Arabian counterpart Faisal bin Farhan and United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Administrator Achim Steiner.
Discussed many issues with Antonio Guterres
S Jaishankar said, “Global challenges were discussed at length with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. The issues of Ukraine conflict, UN reform, G20, climate action, food security and development were raised during the meeting. Jaishankar also met the Foreign Minister of Armenia. In a separate tweet, he said, ‘Glad to meet Armenia’s Finance Minister Arrat Mirzoyan. His briefing on recent developments is commendable.
Meeting with Foreign Ministers of BRICS Group
Earlier, Jaishankar held bilateral meetings with the foreign ministers of Russia, Cyprus, Jordan and Venezuela in New York. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Jaishankar held wide-ranging discussions. Jaishankar met Lavrov at the annual meeting of BRICS Foreign Ministers on the sidelines of UNGA. In the meeting, the members discussed continued cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including regular exchanges between their Permanent Missions to the United Nations.
Jaishankar’s Washington visit begins today
Let us inform that after Jaishankar’s visit to the United Nations, Washington’s visit is starting from today. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is on a visit to New York from September 18 to 24 and will visit Washington from September 25 to 28. Let us tell you that after ending his trip to New York on Saturday, he is scheduled to visit Washington for three days starting on Sunday.
