Elon Musk Twitter Acquisition: The company’s decision came after Elon Musk tried to allay fears about the future of advertising on Twitter through an open letter.
Elon Musk Buys Twitter: Soon after taking over the command of Twitter, Elon Musk has suffered a major setback. General Motors (GM) has decided to temporarily stop paid advertising on Twitter. It is being told that the automakers first want to see in which direction the micro-blogging platform will go under Elon Musk.
However, it is not yet clear what percentage of GM’s total advertising budget goes to Twitter. We are joining Twitter to understand the direction of the platform under their new ownership, the company told TechCrunch.
‘Talks with our customer care will continue on Twitter’
A company spokesperson said late Friday night, in a significant change to the media platform’s normal way of doing business, we have temporarily paused our paid advertising. We will continue to interact with our customer care on Twitter. Newcomers like Ford, GM, Stelantis, Porsche, VW and Volvo as well as Rivian have accounts on Twitter.
General Motors’ decision to stay away from paid advertising on Twitter came after Musk tried to allay fears about the future of advertising on the platform through an open letter.
Musk said this in the letter
The Tesla CEO said, “There has been a lot of speculation about why I bought Twitter and what I think about the ad. Most of these are wrong. He told advertisers that he wanted the platform to be the most respected advertising platform in the world.
In the letter, he said that Twitter cannot become a free-for-all hellscape where anything can be said without any consequences. He said that it is necessary to show advertisements to Twitter users which are for their needs. Musk said ads with low affinity are spam, but highly relevant ads are real content.
