Pak vs Zim T20WC 2022: Zimbabwe beat Pakistan by one run in the T20 World Cup


T20WC 2022 match between Pakistan and Zimbabwe was played at Perth Cricket Ground and been very exciting match because Pakistan just needed one run to win the match but ended up losing it, Zimbabwe won the match by beating Pakistan by one run

Pak vs Zim T20WC 2022: In the 24th match of the T20 World Cup 2022, Pakistan faced Zimbabwe at the Perth Cricket Ground. In this very close match filled with thrill, Pakistan’s team lost by one run and this was the second consecutive defeat of Babar Azam’s team. India defeated Pakistan in the first match. On the other hand, Zimbabwe earned two points with this win, while Pakistan’s team does not have a single point with two consecutive defeats. After these two defeats, the road ahead has become difficult for Pakistan in this tournament. 

In this match, Zimbabwe captain Craig Irwin won the toss and elected to bat. Batting first, Zimbabwe scored 130 for 8 in 20 overs and set a target of 131 runs for Pakistan to win. In the first innings for Pakistan, Mohd. Wasim Jr and Shadab Khan bowled lethally but were let down by the batsmen in the second innings. In the second innings, Pakistan’s team scored 129 for 8 in 20 overs and lost by one wicket. In this match, Sikandar Raza was adjudged the player of the match for his brilliant bowling. 

The thrill of the match was amazing, Zimbabwe turned the match in the last over

Thrill was at its peak in this match and Pakistan needed 11 runs to win in the last over. Brad Evans bowled the last over from Zimbabwe and his first ball was bowled by Mo. Nawaz took three runs. Wasim Junior hit a four on the second ball and now 4 runs were needed from 4 balls to win. After this, Wasim took one more run off Evans’ third ball. Now three runs were needed from three balls, but Evans did not allow Nawaz to take a single run on his fourth ball. Pakistan had to score three runs in two balls to win, but Evans got Nawaz caught for 22 on the fifth ball and Shaheen Afridi was run out for a run on the sixth ball and thus Zimbabwe won. 

Pakistan’s innings, Babar Azam failed

Pakistan captain Babar Azam could not even run against India and his trend continued in the second match of T20 World Cup 2022 as well. Babar’s bat did not work against Zimbabwe and he was dismissed after scoring just 4 runs. There Mo. Rizwan also could not walk in this match and he lost his wicket for 14 runs. Apart from this, Iftikhar Ahmed 5 runs, Shadab Khan 17 runs while Haider Ali lost his wicket on a duck. Shan Masood scored 44 runs and he was stumped by Raza. After this Mohd. Nawaz scored 22 runs while Wasim Jr played an unbeaten 12 not out. Shaheen Afridi was run out after scoring one run and the team lost. Sikandar Raza took 3 wickets for Zimbabwe and was the most successful bowler. 

Zimbabwe’s innings, Sean Williams scored 31 runs

Zimbabwe’s team lost its first wicket in the form of Wesley Madhevere who scored 17 runs, but Mohd. Wasim Jr. got his job done while Wasim gave his team a second breakthrough by dismissing captain Craig Irwin for 19 runs. Shumba scored 8 runs while Raja scored 9 runs. Sean Williams scored the highest 31 runs for Zimbabwe. From Pakistan’s side Mohd. Wasim Jr took four wickets while Shadab Khan took three wickets. While Harris Rauf got a breakthrough.
